Micro-blogging is a form of blogging with restricted space only, i.e. for a short and concise update by a user. While micro-blogging is generally considered as a very recent invention, the Japanese conceptual artist On Kawara could be described as a micro-blogger of the Sixties, though using other media.
For example, in his "I
Got Up At" series of postcards, which he sent to numerous friends, he
indicated merely the time he got up that particular morning. His book
series "I Met" and "I Went" depicts lists of the people he met and
places he saw in the 1960s and 1970s.
rakawa.net is devoted to
honor On Kawara's pioneering work and simultaneously projects
micro-blogging to another level, which is to document and inform about
your individual, daily accomplishments. Let's face it, every day we
crave accomplishments and here is the place to keep track of them.
Isn't there something every day, which isn't necessarily a step on the
moon, but your own small or even often not-so-small achievement? Rakawa
provides a convenient record of individual achievements and also aims
to stimulate and encourage others.
And this is how it works:
Non-registered users can browse the achievements of others by calendar or search by username, keyword and/or date.
Registered users can, additionally, enter one achievement per day, which can be up to 150 characters long, and have the option to illustrate the achievement by a picture and to categorize it by tags.

Arbër Paçarada was born in Kosova and lives in London since 1993. Finished BA Animation at University College for the Creative Arts (former Surrey Institute of Art & Design). At present owns and runs an accounting company and continues to make short animated films in spare time.
Anna-Nicole Ziesche was born in Hamburg and lives in London. BA Fashion Design, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design 1997, London; MA Fashion Design, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design 2000, London. Since January 2008 she is the Course Leader of the MA Fashion design and Enterprise at University of Westminster and continues her film and performance art practice.
Dr. Soenke Ziesche was born in Hamburg where he received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Hamburg, focusing on Cognitive Science. He has worked for the United Nations for the past eight years in Gaza, New York, Colombo, Islamabad and since 2007 in Blue Nile State in Sudan.
